The new Jitsie Varial 18” 740mm frame is specially designed for riders up to 1.20m (4ft) tall.

Description and materials
- New Jitsie Varial 18” frame, a novelty on Belgian brand Jitsie’s bike trials catalogue.
- This frame is specially designed for the young riders, with a short, compact geometry that helps them move the bike much more easily when compared against standard 20” bikes.
- Based around the lines of the new Jitsie Varial 20” frames, adapting its dimensions to the 18” size to make this an ideal frame for riders up to 1.20m (4ft) tall.
- Completely manufactured from high quality 6061-T6 aluminium alloy, which allows for the best compromise between great performance, low weight and affordable price.
- Features a standard 110mm long, 1 1/8” diameter head tube for internal headsets. It has a large front hole that helps remove any excess material as well.
- The down tube has an optimized, Jitsie-exclusive shape that helps increase welding surface on the ends, therefore improving tensile and fatigue strength.
- The top tube has been thoroughly analyzed in order to reduce its dimensions without compromising its performance, achieving the perfect balance between low weight and high stiffness.
- The seat tube is straight and only allows the use of the new Jitsie seat and post.
- This hole can be covered up with a Jitsie branded silicone seat tube bung (supplied with the frame).
- Standard 68mm bottom bracket tube, designed to use threaded bottom brackets with standard 1.37”x24tpi thread.
- Curved seat stays help increase tyre clearance and also increase rear end’s stiffness.
- The seat stays are joined to the chain stays next to the dropouts, which adds a little bit of extra stiffness and strength.
- Flat, horizontal dropouts have been accurately CNC-machined, spaced at 116mm and designed to use snail cams.
- This frame is available with V-brake rear brake mounts, which also accept aftermarket Magura Evo2 rim brake clamps in order to install a hydraulic rim brake.
- Note: 18” wheels must be used with this frame.
- Available in anodized black, with Jitsie Varial white and fluro yellow adhesives.

The 7 Compatibility Keys
Below you can find the main details you need to consider when installing any components on this frame:

- 1) Headset. This frame has a standard headtube with 42mm inner diameter, compatible with 1 1/8” internal headsets.

- 2) Bashplate. This frame has no bashplate mounts. You can install a bashring between the crank and freewheel instead.

- 3) Bottom Bracket. A threaded BB with standard 1.37”x24tpi thread must be used, therefore any traditional or BB30 threaded BBs can be used (Try-All, Hashtagg, Bonz, etc.).

In order to prevent the cranks from rubbing the seat stays, which may happen due to varying crank offsets for each model, it’s recommended to install a 127,5mm or 128mm wide bottom bracket.

- 4) Rear Brake. This frame is available with V-brake rear brake mounts, which also accept aftermarket Magura Evo2 rim brake clamps in order to install a hydraulic rim brake.

18” wheels must be used with this frame.

- 5) Chain tensioner. This frame is designed for use with snail cams. Since the dropouts are spaced at 116mm, the rear hub width plus the 2 snail cams must add up to 116mm.

- 6) Rear hub. Since this frame is designed for use with snail cams, the rear hub width plus the 2 snail cams must add up to 116mm. Most 20” rear hubs are 110mm wide, therefore you’ll need 2x 3mm-thick snails cams, in this case.

Also, since this frame only has disc brake mounts, the rear hub must feature disc brake mounts too.

- 7) Fork. The steerer tube on the fork must be long enough to reach the top bolt on the stem’s steerer tube clamp.
To ensure this, you must add the length of the headtube (110mm for this frame), plus the cups bits that sit outside the headtube, plus the headset spacers (if any) and/or dust cover sitting under the stem, plus the length of your stem’s steerer tube clamp. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be ready to know if your fork is long enough so that at least 2mm of it remain above the top bolt of your stem’s steerer tube clamp.

Geometry (measured with a 300mm x 45mm fork)
- Space between dropouts: 116mm
- Bottom bracket shell: 68mm
- Head tube: 110mm

- Wheelbase: 740mm
- Chain stay length: 280mm
- BB Rise: 25mm
- Head Angle: 71.5º
